Looking for good spots to take the kids fishing from the shore. Have taken them to Forest Lake in Methuen and Martins Pond in North Reading. Any other suggestions in the area?

On the Merrimack over by the Vesper C.C. The little canal is a pretty good spot to catch some Smallies and Larrys.

The old mill in Andover/Ballardvalle. You could do bass and carp fishing on the opposite side of the Lowell Boulevard the grab ice cream at the shop next to the gas station.

Locust Pond in Tyngsboro has room for kids. Also a pond at a reserve, Shaw Conservation Area in Dunstable has easy access.

Anyone know if there is anywhere to shore fish at Haggetts Pond or Fosters Pond?

Haggetts has many spots to shore fish. Its hit or miss though.
Some days I hit huge bass there, other days nada.

The PIG to the left was caught at Haggetts.

Fosters is tough without a boat.

Where would I go to park / shore fish at Haggetts?

If you want to fish Fosters from shore, here's how:

1. Off of Rt. 125 there's a small old, possibly abandoned substation, there's enough room for one car.

2. Follow the rough trail and go right into the treeline. There's an old broken fence, and a not so obvious old trail, continue through until you reach the defined trail ("Journey's End"?). Follow that trail until the end, which has an open point to fish from.

There used to be a rest stop of sorts near there, but a guardrail is there now with no access. I grew up in the area and used to carry a canoe across 125 into Fosters and launch from the wooded edge.

On the map it "looks" far, but it's not, maybe a 1/2 mile of uneven terrain, great if you like hiking and the outdoors. If you're REALLY adventurous, you can follow the trail, cut through a backyard or two by waters edge, and there's a small unconnected crystal clear small pond (at least there used to be).

Have you tried Flint Pond in Tyngsboro? Parking area & a launch for small boats but there are/were areas where one can shore fish. There are, also, a few bodies of water on Rte. 40 in Westford one can fish from shore, like Long Sought For Pond. At least there were when I lived in the area.

Carlisle State Forest at Great Brook Farm. Plenty of spots to catch a sunfish or perch. And if they kids get bored take them for ice cream or to see the animals.
