Today is the day we honor our Vet's and men and women in service to our country past and present.

I skip a day of fishing in honor of them
and say thank you to them all for giving me the freedom to do so

While I share your sentiment, today is about solemnly remembering those who never came back, not acknowledging the service of those returned and/or currently serving (who you should thank routinely, regardless of the date). Sorry, I don't mean to split hairs, but it's an important distinction that most people seem to miss.

Agreed, Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. Veterans Day is to remember ALL service men and women period!
