what brand flouro? some are notoriously tempermental. I started using the spiderwire flourocast. Its a little expensive $15-20, but really worth it. It fishes awesome. Casts great. low memory and stretch, and is very strong. Id pay the extra 5 for it. Youll be straight all year with it.

Have you tried the BPS brand? It's a bit on the pricey side as well, for a store brand, but I've had good results with it.

I spooled up a whole reel of BPS 8# once, and hated it. Couldn't wait until it was gone. It was always kinked up and making a mess of itself. Maybe I didn't give it a fair chance. Oh well...I mainly use braid now, and just tie on a rod's length of flouro as a leader.

Odd, it's always played nice with me. I do use a line conditioner, but maybe I just haven't tried the good fluoro yet and have no reference point =) Was it a spinning reel or a baitcaster? I've tried it on a spinning reel and absolutely hated it as well.

I still have the 12# and 14# on most of my reels, and it's at least a year old. I need to replace it, but I can't recall ever breaking a fish off on it to this point.

i have had great results with vanish and vanish transition as well as stren flourocast #6,#8, #10 on spinning reels and 14 on baitcasters

I used it on a spinning reel, so I guess we had the same luck

after that I figured I'd just use braid for everything, since it's never really given me a problem in the past and its pretty durable.

I use the vanish 20# for my leaders and that seems to work pretty well. I've straightened out a few hooks before snapping the line, even with it being tied to the braid...my knots must also be pretty awesome, haha.

Cool, yeah I went back there today, got a rainbow trout on a spinner bait

Nice! I went today with my bro and caught 3 rainbows, 1 was really decent size. I made a post about in NOFX's spot pond thread over in freshwater reports.

Ive heard mixed things about the bps brand. Some people love it others have the same experience as you. Thats why I went with spiderwire. Almost all the reviews were 5 stars and the ones that werent were 4-4.5. The stuff is INCREDIBLE, I love it. I used to use the Vanish up until last summer. It worked good for me until a certain point. I got a new spool of it and the line just kept snapping. I lost so many lures and fish. I was bulls**t!!!!!!!!!!! I returned and got a new spool and the same thing happened. I dunno maybe they had a bad batch?
