I was taking the batteries out of the boat today and while taking the trolling batteries out, I noticed the fuse was warped. I took the cap off and found the 40 amp fuse burnt up. This was news to me because the motor has been working great. Does anyone have any ideas of the cause?
A few more details:
I switched to two trolling batteries in parallel. My buddy had some heavy guage wire that I used to jumper the batteries (4 guage?).
I usually try unplug my trolling motor when I put it on charge although on a couple of occasions this year, I have left it plugged in. BTW, why are you supposed to unplug them while charging? I know you are supposed to but I dont know the reason (unless the problem I experienced is why you unplug them)
I use a dual pro charger which hasnt shown any errors when or after charging.
Its a 45lb thrust trolling motor.
Thanks for any help, I'm going to think about this some more myself.
