Any recommendations on a decent smallmouth lake or pond in the Boston vicinity (around or within the 495 loop)? Smallmouth are supposed to keep biting until ice over (so the TV shows say?), so looking to keep going until iced out this winter.

The local lakes/ponds temp was 45-46 this weekend, so the Largemouth geeting sluggish. Thinking about Spot Pond; anyone confirm if has a decent smallmouth population, or maybe one of the Mystic Lakes? thanks

I've heard of good smallies in Spot, but have never caught any of my own. I don't think there are any in the mystics, and they'd probably be hard to catch now if there were...those lakes get really deep real fast, and I don't think there is much in the way of structure/cover on the bottom...Temps around 42 when I went out today...

There are smallmouths in the Lower Mystic and around the river mouth; I've caught a few, but none of any size. Not a place I would target specifically for them.
