That's the deciding factor right there. If I have to pay to ship it then I'll either have it done locally or do it myself. I'm not paying to ship it. I may just make a nice video of me grinding it down to dust to show Quantum what I think of their rod. I had to return the original rod for a broken insert in one of the guides. Now this insert fell out. I'm thinking there's a problem from the factory.

when i sent mine in, i paid for shipping, but i got a brand new rod and it was an upgrade. it was sent immediately with no questions asked. i don't like quantum, but their service was pretty awesome.

I just emailed them for instructions. I'm not liking this rod anymore either. This is the second guide insert issue. One broke within 2 weeks of buying the rod and I exchanged it at BPS. Now this. No more Quantum for me

Hey Sam how did you ship it? Post office or UPS? Do you remember how much it cost?

Posted Wed Dec 19, 2012 7:42 pm

I shipped via UPS. They really get you though with the "special handling fee." i think it was $20-30 total. get an estimate with the USPS first if you can. lesson learned on my part for next time.

The cool thing is here in Everett there's a UPS store like 3 doors up from the post office. Thanks again for your insight

I shipped it. Paid 30 bucks UPS. If the new rod breaks there will definitely be a video made for quantum

Sam im glad they were good to you its kind of a surprise to hear that i hear so many bad things about quantums customer service. I was looking at buying another Quantum Smoke reel and the guy at bass pro shops told me that he would suggest not to get it because of how bad there service is. I work at dicks sporting goods now and i have had a couple customers tell me the same thing.

Rob, I've had issues with my Smoke SL151 almost since day one. I still fish it regularly but I don't have confidence that it will work correctly through an entire day of fishing or if I need to crank the drag down tight. It is light and it does cast really well but I have more faith in my Abus.
