Anyone know of a shop in MetroWest that will replace rod guides? Not tips, but guides. I have a couple rods with some wear and tear from the season that Id like to get fixed up in the off season. I know I could do it my self, but I would rather not on my more expensive rods.

Thanks. I called. He said labor is $10 per guide. Not sure double footer is more money or not. I have one rod guide needs replaced. It was my winter project. For 10 bucks, I will let him do it.

I dont think it does, when I talked them they quoted me $15, I assume the difference would be parts. They said the usual turn around is about a week as well.

No, I specified I have the guide. I think $10 is for single foot guide. It is normal double foot is $15 or $20 because double wrapping. The guide is cheap, the shipping is more than a guide cost.

its quite simple. take some thread wrap around the guide and rod. super glue it, cement whate ever you think is strong enough.

Well its not as simple as that, there are specific materials and tools needed

The concern is when taking the threading and epoxy off damaging the blank. Especially for a rod that costs upwards of $200, Id rather not take my chances the first time.

I wouldn't recommend superglue or any other CA glue. It may cause damage to the blank if the guide needs to be replaced again for any reason. There are rod finishes that work well to keep the guide in place, protect the thread-work and which are flexible enough to allow replacement if and when needed. I don't think they cost much more if at all, and its designed for the purpose. I believe I've seen small bottles of the flexcoat rod finish at dicks and bass pro. If you're on the northshore and want me to do it for you, give me shout...I check in once in a while, moreso if needed. I have most of the popular sizes in fuji alconite black or chrome guides and tip tops, except maybe in spinning rod choke guides which are running low. We'll remove, clean, prep, wind on new guide(s) using the same thread color, secure it with a forhan lock, neatly apply rod finish, make sure the tunnels are filled to prevent water from getting in, remove any bubbles, put it on the rod dryer to ensure a nice smooth finish and give the time it needs to cure. The rod will also get a full wipe-down and cleaning. If we notice other issues, workmanship defects, et, we'll take care of those, if you want, sometimes at no extra cost. Cost will depend on the guide you want (anywhere for ~$2.5 to $15 for the bigger or special ones) plus $7-$10 labor and finish for each guide that needs to be replaced. Thread designs might be extra depending on what you want, multiple colors, , patterns, weaves, etc. Custom rods, grips, reel tuning/super-tuning and several types of hard and soft plastic baits are often available as well.

My 2 cents (based on 15 years or so of rod building ): Be sure to order the same size and configuration guide if you decide to replace any guides. Changing things like foot configuration, foot length, frame weight, wrap style, etc can have a significant change in your rods action and performance.
Be especially careful if your having a place that primarily deals in salt water rods repair your fresh and or fly rods. I've seen some very sad cases in the past.

No knowledge of or affiliation with any of the places mentioned here yada yada........
