PREDICTIONS FOR SAFE ICE???

Saw a group out on a pond in Hanson today. At least 1/3 of the pond had open water! Supposedly they were standing on 5"! I don't think so!

Looked at 2 local places in Holbrook today, both small and both had open water areas in the middle.The kids had a half day and some were playing hockey but I'll wait another week before I go out on it.

I tried ice fishing Grove Lake( Lake Holbrook) last year with no luck, other then that I haven't fished in there since I was a kid. Quite a few people tell me they pull OK sized bass outta there but its such a small,super shallow,seriously stained pond that I don't bother with it,too many better ponds around.

Yup, that is it for the south shore, not that it ever really happened! People will have to travel north and west of Boston if they want safe ice!
