Saltwater setup basics

Did a lot of saltwater fishing as a kid, trying to get back into it again. Need a little help getting a basic setup. Have the rod but not sure what to use for lures, bait. Just looking to setup rod to get started then take it from there. Going after stripers on south coast around Dartmouth, Westport etc. from a kayak.

Protail, slickfish, al gags, and poppers will work from shore. Same goes to boat. If you have chance to get live mackerals or dead one. They are effective at this moment when no fish are biting on anything.
