I am surprised you think a 4000 series is too large for bass. I have a 25 series that seems very small. I have been using the 4000 series Saros for 2 years and never thought it was too big. Also have 3 penn 4500's that I am fazing out. Maybe it is my saltwater background. but I prefer the bigger handle and the more line pick up of the bigger reel

I have 4000 size spinning reels but I use them for Carolina rigging and bombing big top waters like spooks and buzzjets. You need a lot of 12-14lb mono to be able to cast far and the 4000 size fits the bill for that.

. I would say bait casting tackle is more suitable for Carolina rigging ,and big topwaters.I can see if your throwing a real lite Carolina rig 1/4 or less . Other wise bait casting tackle is the way to go .

He doesn't know how to use a baitcaster

When did you become a Marlin?

I'm not sure. I never even felt it happen. Like turning 40

I was just looking at the BPS flyer. As far as the reel trade in goes, it states in small print that the offer is valid only on "select" reels! Better call first to see if the top brands are included so you don't waste a trip!
