I'm not trading in the Saros. I have a few very old reels. How many can I trade in, have not looked at the rules for trade in but I think the Stratic CI+4 will be my choice.

Looking for a 4000 size reel , I am assuming the 4400 is the model Stradic i ma looking for

I would also take a look at the new Stradic FK. I had a FJ that I broke and they didn't have another FJ to replace it with so they gave me the FK. Got to fish it a couple weeks at wachusett before it closed and it's a smooth and solid reel. I am a big fan of the silver. I didn't like the CI+4 as much because I thought it felt too light on the rod and the heavier FJ felt super balanced. Can't hurt to bring your rod and throw it on there and see how it feels

The 4000 is BIG for fresh water. I have the 3000 and the 2500. Put both in your hand and compare.

I agree for most freshwater the 3000 or 2500 is big enough. The 3000 and 2500 are essentially the same but the 3000 has more line capacity.

I am surprised you think a 4000 series is too large for bass. I have a 25 series that seems very small. I have been using the 4000 series Saros for 2 years and never thought it was too big. Also have 3 penn 4500's that I am fazing out. Maybe it is my saltwater background. but I prefer the bigger handle and the more line pick up of the bigger reel

$200 for a spinning reel ?!?!? Myself I'd buy a pair of Pflueger Supremes, or perhaps a Supreme XT and a couple new lures to try it out with.

I have 4000 size spinning reels but I use them for Carolina rigging and bombing big top waters like spooks and buzzjets. You need a lot of 12-14lb mono to be able to cast far and the 4000 size fits the bill for that.

. I would say bait casting tackle is more suitable for Carolina rigging ,and big topwaters.I can see if your throwing a real lite Carolina rig 1/4 or less . Other wise bait casting tackle is the way to go .

Weight is the biggest difference.

I dissagree. I have been throwing my carolina rig on spinning gear for 25 years. All the way up to 3/4 oz weights for fishing in 25-35'
