I thought I'd check out Browning pond in Spencer today, and the ramp had a big "Access for emergency vehicles only" and something like no other boats allowed, and there were no trespassing signs stapled to the trees along the road where it looks like people usually launch kayaks. Some guy stopped and said he thought they didn't allow anyone to take boats out, I assume because of the boy scout camp. But Mass Fish and Wildlife lists it as having boating access. Anyone know anything about this? I'm going to email them next week.
So, I went to Brooks pond instead. Caught one bluegill in several hours of fishing. That is very weird, and only saw a few bluegill in the water and what looked like tons of baby largemouth, but they could have been some kind of minnow. Something I read online said the fishing is poor there, supposedly because of low oxygen in the water, and it looks like that's true. Very few weeds, and very brown water. Anyone else tried to fish it? It's beautiful for kayaking, lots of little islands, but I wanted to fish. Blueberries were good, though.
