Hoped for good fishing but there was something wrong with the water, very cloudy. Wondering if it has blue-green algae. Only caught 3 bluegill and 1 black crappie in 1.5 hours fishing. The water had a strange smell, too. Avoid for the time being.

On vacation in Maine, having no luck at Shagg Pond so decided to drive into Norway and try my luck there. Fished the Norway outlet side east of the Crockett Ridge Road bridge. The fishing was on fire that afternoon/evening! Nothing very big but got tons of little largemouth bass, very large perch, and some pickerel. A strike on every cast, almost. On the right day this part of the lake will spoil you. It would be a good place to take a kid out on a boat to fish for the first time because there will be success. Trolling and casting with a DB Smelt #042, my new favorite lure!

Took my kayak and trolled around the pond with a spoon that looks like a rainbow shiner. Got tons of hits, lots of crappie, some largemouth bass, some bluegill and yellow perch. Definitely will go back. This place is full of black crappie. The narrows between the two halves of the pond seemed to have the most activity. The description of this pond implies that there is a navigable pass-through under South Meadow Road, this is not the case. To get to the other side you would have to portage over the road. It looked like a similar situation to get to Coachlace pond.
