But if we get back to the original topic - the new catch and release sportfishing awards program - I contacted the DFG and they said that as long as you weigh your fish on a certified scale, it is catch and keep. Even if you release it. As deaffisherman said, the original catch and keep is more "serious".

I talked to Richard Hartley - he is responsible for this awards. he said there is adults and young winner "AOY" for Catch&Keep program. While only ONE winner for Catch&release program.

However, there are separate category for gold pins. there are keep category for biggest fish of the year while another gold pins for biggest fish on release category.

Yes, that is a bronze pin that they send you if your fish meets the requirements.
