In your house is not a good idea. The battrries can leak sulfuric gasses and they are not safe with pets around.

indoors is fine with a maintenance free, completely sealed AGM battery though right? i keep it near the window that's open just a crack just in case.

On a serious note, I purchased new Walmart group 29's this year and they are now maintenance free.

i've actually looked at those. maybe in 10-15 years when prices are normal...

but i'm going to have to check the wal marts out for a smaller secondary battery.
