just found out my buddies are renting a house on winni next week.

ive never fished it before. i would love to catch a salmon and laker. i dont got down riggers or lead core line.
so ill be verticle jigging for them over deep holes

im pretty confident on my bass fishing skills.

I looked up an old post titled *Down Rigger Substitute* August 5,2011 it has some ideas for fishing trout and salmon in deep water. Hope this helps...

i saw the on the water tv show about butterfly jiggiing trout. they slammed them. that why i wana try jiggin for trout.

i guess find some deep structure. drop offs.
ive read that summer lakers are 60 feet over 100. avg depth of winni is 40.
ive heard that once you find em its game on,fish on. so im fairly confident ill get 1 or 2. if i fish for em. im not fishing on my boat, so im not the captain.

the captain may want to go out for bass

Not an expert on the subject. I think trolling seems to be the most effective way. If I want to target laker in the summer, I would stay in 60-80 feet of water. A good sonar helps a lot. When you some activity in that depth range, drop a mark and start jigging. I would agree with your friend target smallmouth is little easier. Watch out the boat traffic, it is like water park in the summer weekend.

I saw that episode also "On The Water"I want to try the Butterfly jigging myself. I'm going to Winnipesaukee on vacation in a couple of weeks and I hope to get an opportunity to try this. They located the deep water structure and it was lights out.

Good luck...

I don't got butterflies. Yea I saw that to. Which gave me the idea!

Ill let you know how I do. We are stayin moultonborough.

If we are stayin on the eastern part on moultonborough ill be bass fishing. Cuz there's not alot of deep water there.

If I'm on the western side of moultonborough ill try for lakers. Lots of deep water.

You can pick up the butterfly jigs for about $5. or use 1/2 oz kastmaster I was thinling a saltwater crippled herring type lure also. I emailed a baitshop in Meridith that is very knowledgeable. AJ Bait Shop phone for them is 603-279-3152 al is the owner if you have questions he will be glad to help.

Tight lines...

I'm not sure where I purchased the couple I have but I know I would never spend $15 ea. I looked at the A.J.'s Bait & Tackle site and they have lures they make there for $4.50 ea. called BB Guns. They look like Butterfly Jigs.
The size of the ones on "On The Water"were 55 grams up to 75 grams. I think this is approximately 2 oz. +...

I'm not sure how close Meridith is to where your staying but you can check out bait shops in that area. I always stop by and talk to the regulars and get some advise. I need to pick up a licence anyway.
