Going to try cochituate for the first time. Any suggestions on what lake to target? I'll be fishing from a 12 foot rowboat with a 5 hp. Any tips appreciated! How's the boat ramp?

bring a book and a pillow - mayority of peeps catch jack there so be warned

ramp is great - if the weather is good you have more traffic then on masspike including the douches hi speeding the lake back and forth
makes a real nice calm afternoon for fishing next to the hillbilly 500's

i go there when the season is over - no fee for parking no closed gate till 8 and not one soul out there

i go there for trout but has a lot of bass - perch

best spot in my op is of the ramp to the left thru the tunnels

as soon as you hit the north lake, fish the banks and weed line on the mass pike side. so come out of tunnel and fish that left bank all the way around to the island with some rubber, has some good depth and holds some nice fish.
south lake over by the military facility holds some nice fish as well, just watch out for the water skiers.

they recently pulled the weeds so try to find any green weed beds. i bet the dropoffs and points are good too. not sure what the s. pond is like. could be coffee colored soup?

Thanks guys! Do I have to wait to 8am to launch? How much is the fee to launch?

i think its 5. i recently heard that the water was high and it makes the bridge to the other ponds impassable for bigger boats. just fyi.

park and launch as far down the ramp as possible after you get through the gate. i'm not sure if the ramp comments were a joke but the ramp sucks if you have a trailer. yeah it's big and paved but it drops off at the bottom and it's steep. the very bottom edge is usually slippery from algae as well so watch your step. you should be fine with your setup though. it's not as bad further down towards the end of the ramp near the bathrooms.

there's a big hump in deep water straight out of the launch in middle pond. could be worth a shot if there's any wind.
