Can any one give me tips on ice fishing for smallies? And brown trout?
I'm going to loon mountain next weekend. The only place near there that's legal to ice fish is mirror lake!
They stock the s*** out of it with browns rainbows and Brookies. but it gets hit very hard for trout.
The deepest part is 33 feet. Has a couple of very steep drop offs.
One part it literally drops straight down off this huge boulder on the shore.
There's a hump from 15 feet to 21-24 feet. But there are ice houses over there on that spot.
The southern shoreline gets hit the hardest. It has all the Ice houses. The trout stay shallow and cruse close to the shoreline. So the northern and western shore line don't get fished. Much. Buts that's also where the steep drop offs Are and the deep water. No ice house on that part of the small lake!
Heard there are some big brownies in there to.
Any tips and pointers would be much appreciated!
I've been there once this year and got a couple perch. Last year I caught nothing. This is the time this year ill fish it. Do I wana go out with a bang.
Not a lot of info on the Internet. I've read it all!
So I figured I'd ask the gods of fishing!
