Hey guys, new guy here. Fairly long time creeper, finally registered.
Might as well post something in the fishing reports section. I've been heading out around the South Shore for the past few weeks, with this wonderful winter weather we've been having. Here's what I've been up to.
A few trips to Nickerson State Park were just that. Trips. No fish taken.
Long Pond, Plymouth has been hot for me for holdover rainbows, a few in the 15" range. One day fished for four hours without so much as a bump, then just as I was packing it in at 4:45pm, I filled my limit within 10 minutes. Hitting mostly on chartreuse powerbait. Couldn't get much of a rise on slow retrieved Thomas spoons, just one lost fish.
Also, I've been hammering pickerel as recently as yesterday on slow to medium retrieved Rapala swimmers. Mostly females PACKED with eggs, in multiple ponds around the South Shore. Seems like this mild weather has put the spawn into an early overdrive.
Have yet to hook up to a largemouth, I've never been any good at catching them anyway. Any tips for a bumbling, mostly salty, fool without a boat?
