For the guys using 10 and 12lb braid, whats the reason behind it? It is not much stronger then the mono of floro you are using as leaders.

I use it cause it performs well on spinning reels. On my casting reel I have straight flouro and straight braid on my flipping sticks. I don't like line twist so the braid main line and leader eliminate that problem

I have ben fishing the clear waters of the swift river for years .
Ande makes a pink mono that works well in those conditions . I do also use a barrel swivel and 3 ft fluorocarbon leader at times . The pink has worked well for me under all conditions .The Ande line is not too stiff and is a world class line .They also make a clear, green or yellow line . Here is a link to it at Cabellas .

anyone try this out yet? i bought some to give it a shot on my spinning reels for setups where i cast a lot, but i'd love to get some user feedback. it supposedly has the lowest memory (heard that one before) and is ideal for spinning reels.

Berkley Trilene XL Pro Grade 100% Fluorocarbon

I use 12lb floro on my spinning rods. Because I like the low visibility, little stretch and it sinks.
Also use it when casting cranks and spinners

Use braid for flipping and froging.

I utilize every type of line based on the application.

17 lbs mono for topwater
14 lbs fluoro for C-rig/spinnerbait/soft swimbait rod
17 lbs fluoro for jig rod
6 or 8 lbs fluoro for Drop shot/light plastics
65 lbs braid for flipping and punching rods
10 lbs fluoro for cranking rod

I dont tie leaders to anything except when using C-Rig

Yea mono is good for things like spooks

Thanks for all the feedback. Does fluoro cast as far as braid? I am thinking of the chu mostly because shore fishing only like to be able cast long distances n cover lots of ground. Do like the braid for slop n doesn't seem to spook the bass at my other locals like it does the lakers at the chu. Maybe I will try fluoro on 1 of my spinning reels.

on your spinning reel, what are you throwing and how heavy are you going to go? fluoro can easily becomes a mess on spinning reels and you get bad line twist. unless i'm drop shotting light line, i use a fluoro coated co-polymer like P-Line FloroClear. way less issues.

i don't really see a big difference in castability but it might be difficult to throw a 1/4 oz. jig on 20 lb. fluoro.

most of my setups are pretty similar to bobby's. i don't mess with leaders. and i think i give up on the carolina rig.

10-12 lb. mono for topwater
14 lb. fluoro for finesse jigs
15-17 lb. fluoro for other jigs
12 lb. fluoro for texas rigs, spinnerbaits etc.
10-12 lb. fluoro for crankbaits
6-7 lb. fluoro for drop shot (spinning)
8-10 lb. fluoro coated copolymer for finesse applications (spinning)
17-20 lb. fluoro for flipping clearer water and lighter cover
50-65 lb. braid for flipping / punching / frogs

Braid usually casts farther because of smaller diameter for same lb test.

When fishing jigs and anything fished on the bottom you get a much better feel with floro, more direct contact with your bait, because braid floats.
