What do you guys look for when you're fishing in cold water when it comes to structure, depth, points etc. I always fish shallow water in the weeds so fishing open water is a challenge for me, especially when its this cold so just wondering what you guys key in on with such cold water temperatures.

I focus on deeper structure with a quick drop off like under bridges and pullers, or woody coves in the upper part of the lake that are protected from the wind. Points are good as well as bluff banks and riprap. I get bit most on jigs that are blue, black and purple shades. The first crawfish is hard to resist for a bass so the jig works great. I also like inflowing water because that is usually warmer and oxygenated.,

sounds good. I'll be heading out to Metacomet Lake hopefully within the next few weeks. I'll be sure to use a lot of jigs and key in on the points and creek channels.
