What does it do?

It allows you to share catches, how you caught it, bait used, and other stats. share pictures. it sounds a lot like fishfinder.... it is but honestly its like fishfinder on steroids, and it is a much simpler format in my opinion, it is easy to navigate, and it gives a map view of every fishing water in the world, yes i said world, and it will tell you the type of fish caught there, when they were caught and so forth, and my favorite feature is the title of king, if you catch the biggest fish for that breed of fish in a body of water you are crowned king of that breed in that body of water, i strongly suggest downloading it

Hey guys,

We noticed the mention of fishing apps and also wanted to recommend you check out Fishidy. It's a free app available for iOS or Android mobile devices which gives you access to thousands of detailed fishing maps all across the U.S. The app allows you to log your catches and spots and then syncs that with the main Fishidy website where you'll find even more tools to help you eliminate unproductive water.

Here are a few links to popular waterway pages in Massachusetts:

Massachusetts Bay
Cape Code Bay
Quabbin Reservoir

Check us out and feel free to reach out with any questions about getting started!

Thanks,

Fishidy seems like a good app, but as of right now it is essentially worthless around here, unless you want to be the guy uploading all the info. If you're looking for info on a new body of water, good luck. Of all the lakes, and there were quite a few, I checked here in MA using the app, there wasn't a single entry on any of them.

Not saying it's a bad app, of course, it actually seems quite good.

I talked with one of the Fishidy reps at the Worcester show last year and as cool as it is, it's useless around here. But great for Champlain and wherever else we may do our 2 days. I used it this year for that.

I agree, i downloaded it and deleted it right away. Its useless

If these apps are ever going to be successful there needs to be some standard content to start with and build on.

Fish Brain has lots of content right off the bat, more than fishfinder does, in my opinion atleast, most water ways that are popular in your area will have a decent amount of info, i suggest checking it out, i use it every chance i get, why? Because it is that good

I didn't even think to use it at Champlain. Might have helped me on day two.

Guys, this is all fantastic feedback and we really appreciate you taking the time to checkout the Fishidy app! Your comments are valid in that our best mapping data, fishing tips and info are for the most part provided on major waterways, such as a Lake Champlain as mentioned. You can imagine the challenge of gathering that type of detailed information for every single small waterway in every region of the country.

With that in mind, we're looking at ways to get our members involved in more of a wiki-like system where you would be able to enter data for smaller, local waterways you fish and provide details about the species found there, tips you've had success with in the past, etc. Then when that waterway is added to Fishidy, you're given ownership and validation that you've started a new, local fishing community on Fishidy where you can start keeping a log of your activity, invite buddies, etc. Is that something that would appeal to you guys as anglers?

And one last question that we'd appreciate feedback on. As a first time user, would you rather login and see tons of content being shared by members in locations and for species NOT relevant to your location (Massachusetts area), or would you rather login and see very limited or minimal information that is very relevant to your location and the species of fish you target?

Thanks again for all the commentary!

Thanks,
Jon

I would want information specific to my location.

Fishidy is a nice tool when traveling. I use mainly when I go ice fishing out side of Massachusetts. As mentioned before doesn't really have much value in Mass.

You got it! Fishbrain is a spot burner. Honestly I think its a cool and useful app, but it will have huge negative consequences.

You can post anonymously, you do not need to share where you caught the fish, many people dont share that info or anything else for that matter, you can just post a picture with the size and weight, I however do, i really dont care who else knows where i fish if they want to check it out they can. It's one thing if its your honey hole but most places have a high fishing pressure to begin with.
