Figured I'd get people to read.

Here's the question. Worm Hooks? Does everybody tend to stick to a pretty general size hook for worms / creature baits or do they vary with the size of the bait?

This question applies to different rigging situations as well. Texas Rig, wacky rig etc. I know the hooks are different, but do you use different size hooks as well?

What size / style / make hooks are you using?

You could probably get by with just one size, but I prefer to have at least two: A smaller size for creature baits, and a larger one for worms and other larger plastics.

I use a 3/0 (I think it's 3/0) Owner Wide Gap Plus for the small hook. I think it runs a bit smaller than the Gammy equivalent.

For the larger hook I use a 5/0 version of the same hook, or a Gammy Offset G-Lock around the same size.

I don't really fish creature baits, but I agree with Michaelk about the 5/0 for worms. I was using 3/0 or 4/0 with a 4-5" worm, but then tried 5/0 and I was hooking up better. I've been using the BPS red ones, they seem to work fine...not as nice as gamakatsu's but the price difference on the 25 packs is like 10 bucks.

I usually fish them texas rigged and weightless. I think you use a different style hook for wacky rigs...octopus' I believe...I dont' really do much wacky rigging.

Texas Rig = 3/0 and 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG Hooks (also sometimes go with 3/0 Gamakatsu Skip Gap Worm Hooks for skipping so i don't tear the plastic up)
Wacky Rig = 1/0 and 2/0 Gamakatsu Wicked Wacky Hook

If you are using large worms (10 in and up) get some owner 11/0 hooks. I know it sounds huge but they are perfect for large worms. And dont worry about missing small fish. I still hooked bass that were half the size of my 12 in power worm. For your other worm hooks check out VMC. That is mainly what I use for all my other hooks. They are super sharp, dont rust, and are CHEAP. At dicks they are $1.99-2.25 for a pack of 12!

i have alot of hooks, but for a start i would get 1/0, 3/0, and 5/0 hooks that are ewg, and 3/0 ofset worm hooks. i like trokar, vmc, and BPS brands.
