i go fishing roughly 4 times a week and bass are just next to impossible to catch.i cant seem to come up with a sensible reason for this.

How deep is the water you are fishing and what are you using? I find the shallow ponds to be more productive this time of year. Suspending jerkbaits will produce, vary the retrieve until you find what they want. Plastics slowly dragged along the bottom will also get bites. The more aggressive fish will hit a Ratltrap or spinnerbait too. If we get the warmup next week things will improve, a couple of degree changes in water temp can make a huge difference.

I've been getting pickerel on swimbaits like crazy this winter. No luck on the bass, but the picks seem pretty pissed off, makes for a good fight.

This is the most frustrating time for fishing. Bass bites can are real soft this time of year. Anytime I've caught in the winter, I feel like I've had to watch my line more than actually feel for the hit, setting whenever it looks like my line has moved...
