How's everyone doing today? It is a very tough day. I didn't see people catching much and most of them I met were empty handed. I lost two big smallmouth (20 inch plus)early in the morning. One followed to the shore about 3 feet away from me. It took my offering. When I set hook I just noticed my baitcast drag was set off during the winter. I pulled a small bird nest and it got away. Few minutes later, I got a light tap very close to shore, I lost it. I pitched again 15 feet out. It grabbed my lure immediately. I set hook, I saw a huge smallie head shaking out of water and I lost it again. This time the problem was my thin wire hook was bended out somehow. I am not sure it is the fish or I pulled it from rocks prior and I didn't check it. My heart was broken because I thought that could be the only two bites I had for the day.

To make a long story short, I eventually managed catching four smallmouth and one laker between 10 to 12 noon time. I caught them on different lures. I don't think the lure was the key. 10-12 was when the sun broke out of the clouds. For the rest of the day, heavy clouds, not even one bite.

The end results: Smallie--1X18 inch, 1X17inch,2X16inch. Laker--22inch.

I am not going there tomorrow. My outlook is poor fishing with very stiff north west cold wind.

I love Chu. It is like a Casino. Sometimes, a person knows nothing can win big there. But sooner than later, the lucky run will be ended. To be successful there, you need put time in to grind it out.

Tight line, happy fishing.

PS:all smallie released. laker gave to another angler who wanted it.
