Charles River Bass Fodder

Could point me in the direction of information about what the Largemouths in the Charles are eating?

I fish the Charles in the Newton area frequently, and I want to match their fodder.

I did some googling, but I didn't find anything.

I imagine they're eating bluegill, crayfish, frogs, pumpkinseed and perch.

I guess a better question would be:

What color tube, grub, craw and lizard baits are working for you in the Charles?

I was fishing the Charles in Dedham this week and had most my success on dark colored plastics. I got one decent size fish on a black and yellow buzz bait. The rest were on black/blue jigs or plastics.

I stopped by the Great Plains Ave spot but the bugs were so thick in the humidity I opted out for the morning. And I even had a new bunch of flies ready to try out too.

The report from Canton having EEE has me extra cautious

We all use lures... Plastic worm type lures with or without weight depending on water depth, current, and weeds. Some of the better plastic baits have plenty of weight to cast and sink well without extra weight added. I like dark colors on the Charles...

That part of the river they eat mostly bluegill. I fished it today and from the recent rain the water is muck green, a major bacteria bloom is going on. Throw anything dark and loud.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I picked up some bluegill soft swim baits, black craws, and a black spinner bait at BPS yesterday.

I also got some dark bass jigs in the mail yesterday (a dark green and black one, and a brown and black one.)

I'll let you know how it goes.
