Catfish

I recently heard from a friend about a good place for bullhead catfish. I went there with a weighted rig so that I could fish on the bottom. But every I bring my bait back I realize that it's full of weeds and muck. I think this is why I can't catch them. What should I do?

What are you using for bait? How much weight you using? Is the whole place loaded with weeds or just where you were?

mike, i was fishing a lake with hot dogs on a treble hook as bait and i had a 1/8 egg weight which went down to a barrel swivel and then from the swivel there was a 15-20 inch leader. I'm not sure whether the whole lake has weeds or just my spot because it was all underwater.

Weeds all under water okay lol. First check around the place see if you can find spots not as weedy if not ask your buddy.. You can try to float a crawler so it keeps it off the bottom as well.
