Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a new baitcaster from BPS. Really looking forward to the spring classic sale. BPS does a reel trade in sale that's good towards a new reel. Have any of you done this before? Is it worth trading a used reel for a new one. I have a real piece of junk that I'd be glad to get rid of.

I hadn't heard about this until I read your message. Sounds pretty cool, I also have an old reel with stripped gears that I would love to get rid of toward a new reel.

From what I have been reading, In previous years they go by the reel you plan on purchasing. So if you were to buy a more expensive reel, you get a larger credit for your old reel. The bracket is as follows (this is for previous years)

$5 - $30-48.99
$10 - $49-74.99
$15 - $75-99.99
$20 - $100-119.99
$25 - $120-159.99
$30 - $160-199.99
$40 - $200-249.99
$50 - $250-499.99
$100 - $500 and up

and this is from the BPS website describing the deal (this is current)...
• Reel Trade-In: If attendees have any old reels that don’t see a lot of action any more, bring them in during “Reel Trade-In” days February 25th through March 2nd at the U.S. stores and March 11th through 16th for Canada stores. They can be traded in for a coupon worth from $5 to $100 off the purchase price of a new reel. The donated reels will be given to local not-for-profit groups whose mission is to teach children about fishing and the outdoors.

I have done this in the past. Both in Atlanta and Mesa Az. They will check the reel to make sure it is usable as they give them to the local boy scouts and fishing clubs to use when they have free fishing days and events. But yes i have given away reels and used them towards a Penn Torque 300 and a Johnny Morris gold and did receive the staed discount with out issue. They will also take fishing rods if yu have extra and give them away also. In Atlanta they gave me a coupon for both reel and rod

Up & out early Sunday morning to hit BPS for the sale!
I think snow kept everyone away til later in the day (better for me, no lines or crowds!). Got the reel I was eyeing, a BPS Pro Qualifier 5.2 to 1. It was $99 regular price $79 sale then got $15 for my trade in. Which knocked it down to $64! Makes my Abu silvermax look like junk. Most of the out of stock items were soft plastic baits, they were flying of the shelves. Definitely worth the trip!

The only problem now, is I got CABIN FEVER even worse! Lookin at all those HUGE bass swimmin in the tank. There was a LMB no kidding, 7-8lbs. with the bug eyes bulging outta his head!

I'm ready for SPRING!!!!
