Last week, I sat my brand new Abu Garcia Cardinal® 400i Combo rod down after spooling up some line. I stepped out of the room for a millisecond, and returned to find my 4 year old son, who was supposed to be in bed, putting the rod tip in the ceiling fan (which was on at the time).

Surprisingly, the tip was fine. I've fished twice with it, and it's survived a feisty chain pickerel, and a keeper bass.

It's labeled 24 Ton graphite, which near as I can figure is ballpark to IM-6 (which I know is far from standard).

I was really worried about the durability of a "brittle" graphite rod. While I won't mistreat it, and definatiely won't stick the tip in a ceiling fan again, I'm much more at ease with having a graphite rod.
