My Dad and I planned a trip earlier in the week to fish for a half of day on Saturday morning. We hadn't been out in a while together so the 38 degree 12 mph wind didn't bother us too much. He met me at my house around 7:30 am and by 8:15 we were throwing 1/8 ounce jigs with 3 inch chigger craw trailers. The first hour was slow but we still managed to catch 2 perch and 3 small bass. We moved around the pond to a new spot with slightly deeper water and started to get into the bite. About 8 more bass over the next hour but nothing over a pound and a half. We got close to the shore and the sun and wind made more of a presence so I started casting a 3/8 ounce white spinner bait. Literally first cast and bam....a solid smash which produced a 2.4lb bass and a great fight. I threw the same bait for another 10 minutes before I got another smash off a faller birch tree and was rewarded with a 3.2lb bass. We continued to drift with the wind and were catching small bass until my jig got taken by a big fish. The fish faught like crazy near the boat and I was happy when I lip locked the 4.4lb bass. We had a great time on the water and each caught over 10 fish which it that much more enjoyable. The light jig and spinner bait bite continue to be hot!
