Spectacle is an average size (66 acre) two-story pond located in Lancaster just south of Route 2. The water is clear with a transparency of 19 feet. The shoreline is 75% developed with summer and year round homes. Aquatic weeds are very scant throughout the pond. As of this writing, shoreline access is limited to the town beach area on the north end of the pond off of Old Union Road. Only car top boats and canoes can be launched from Labor Day until Memorial Day. Fish Populations: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, brown trout, rainbow trout, yellow perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, white sucker and banded killifish. The most abundant gamefish are largemouth bass and the most abundant panfish are bluegills.
This managed trout pond is stocked with trout during the spring season. A good number of trout were sampled during the survey, indicating good carryover. Largemouth bass provide fair fishing and large bluegills and yellow perch provide good panfishing.
