September 1st Night Outing
I planted the seed early in the week with my fiance that I would be spending a couple hours one night on the lake to some jitterbugging. Thursday was the night that she conceded so I headed out around 7:30pm and fished until around 10:30pm. There was a little wind to contend with in the basin I had in mind so I went to the deeper basin to a cove that had some docks and drastic depth changes. The top water bite was still active and I benefited by landing 7 bass. The biggest came after I missed an explosion near the boat. I made a second short cast beyond the miss and about 15 feet from the boat she smacked it again except this time two of the treble hooks were secured in her mouth. An abrupt fight before I swung her into the boat. Not a monster but a really healthy bass weighing in at 3lbs 12ozs made for my best night bass of the season. I enjoyed a few shock tops on the way home and called it a night!
