Rainy Day Bass

I was determined to hit the lake before the approaching rain this weekend. I bought a sub on the way up to Gilmanton and promptly wolfed it down in order to get to the lake in time. To a certain degree it paid off. I went back to the shore spot that I hit up Memorial Day weekend and managed to pull in one bass. I woke up today and found that the rain had stopped so I quickly biked down to the lake for one last shot, pulling up two more bass. Looks like I'm never going back to the dam!

The jelly worms make a triumphant return! Catch

  • # of Fish Caught: 1
  • Water Type: freshwater
  • Type of Fish: Largemouth Bass
  • Fish Length (Avg): 15.5 inches
  • Fish Length (Max): 15.5 inches
  • Bait Type: Worm Check Prices
  • Bait Details: I picked up some purple jelly worms at Bass Pro the other day and tried them out at the lake. I did manage to catch one good bass on them. Looks like those still do produce.
  • Location Details: There is a floating dock at the end of the swimming area. If nobody is swimming that day, I throw a lyre over there because some nice two pounders like to hang out near it.

Where are the smallies? Catch

  • # of Fish Caught: 2
  • Water Type: freshwater
  • Type of Fish: Largemouth Bass
  • Fish Length (Avg): 14.5 inches
  • Fish Length (Max): 14.5 inches
  • Fish Weight (Avg): 1 lbs. 14 oz.
  • Fish Weight (Max): 1 lbs. 14 oz.
  • Bait Type: Lizard Check Prices
  • Bait Details: I used those blue lizards again in this shallow area. They always seem to produce well in this lake one way or the other.
  • Location Details: Both of these smaller bass came from this rocky, shallow area to the left. I always thought there would be smallmouth here, but the largemouth are hogging all the action so far.
