Private Lake In CT
-Saturday May 14th-
So it started out with a trip to my girlfriend's parent's rented house out on a great lake I go to sometimes to fish. I had no clue I was going to have the best fishing I had ever had in any place. Wow is all that I can say. I remember my gf's father would say that there are some strange and rare fish in the place (caught a catfish one day).
So once we got there, I started the first part of the weekend trip with fishing Saturday the 14th from 1:15pm until 4:45pm or something like that. I found a few small islands in this place with water flowing pretty good around them. Fish usually like this stuff. Plus there were rocks and structure all around.
I hit up one island and casted a few times with no avail because of insane winds. So I got myself to a place which would block the wind coming at me and I was able to keep hitting my 5 inch worm near it tons of times. I felt big hits a bunch of times, but I had to keep at it. BOOM. A good hit, and a nice healthy bass around 1.5 pounds nailed it and I landed him. A few more spots were near docks and boats which are plentiful at this place. A few more bass followed. One place was directly next to the "Safety Patrol" for the lake (not a good idea since I didn't have my life jacket in the canoe). Idiot move but it landed me yet another average 1.5 pound bass.
Another spot was near a cove with rocks. I had no clue but this place had smallies. I casted near the shore and I was very surprised to nail a tiger striped smallmouth bass which fought damn good.
The wind kept taking me to an island which looked like it housed a bunch of fish. I decided to cast about 5-10 feet away from the island near it and SMASH, I got a 1.5 pound small mouth bass (never ever felt a fight like this from a bass). It was BEAUTIFUL and it was my personal best smallie ever...
After this was a few more largies (good 1.5 pound size at least which is an awesome average weight)
-Sunday May 15th-
This trip was the best in terms of numbers. I got up (somehow) at 5:30am and wanted to do some morning bass huntin! I got to that awesome island spot again immediately. Took a lot of muscle since it was at the exact opposite end of the lake which figures. It was 5:50am and the water was damn warm for a foggy rainy day. I got my first bass at 5:53am which didn't take long at all. A bunch of largies were in the same area (no smallies that day) and they hit hard all day. Most were caught after a downpour (which I was in) and after that. Got 8 bass total for this day and loved every second. A notable fish was caught which was a fat stomached 2.22 pound largie.
Loved this trip!
