Maspy Reunion & Boone!!!

I spent from 8am to 1130 am at Maspy solo- it was great to be back at my old stomping ground. First strike of the day came around 8:10am on the frog and a big one it was! Unfortunately as soon as I went to set it, I came up empty handed despite the explosion! I caught 4 bass and a pickerel in the 2 foot range and then it was time to pick up Rick, Jen's Dad around noon time at the public ramp. We cruised around various coves and rock ledges with minimal action until I landed a nice 3lber on Mr. Ribbit in open water about 8 feet deep. I dropped off Rick around 2:30 and then went to the resident ramp to pack up to beat the thunderstorms.

I arrived back at Boone around 4pm and re-lined my frog rod before heading out for a couple more hours. I'm glad I went out again as I caught 5 keeper bass...all in 4-6 feet of open water with scattered lillies around. My 3rd fish in was a strong one as it crushed the frog a few feet from a submerged stump. The bass jumped a couple times for me and I did my best to keep the line down....the net was too far to grab so after it was close to the boat I snatched it with a viper grip. I let out my traditional WHOOOO as I was 9 hours into my day on the water and finally I landed a special one. It was great to chill with Rick and later on to hang out with Larry for a few!
