Lower Mystic Lake
Decided to head out for a few hours on Wednesday afternoon, with an early overcast giving way to some bright sun in warm, humid conditions. Very little activity on the water for the first two and 1/2 hours, mostly working a weightless worm deep or flipping it up against the lily pads.
Whole lotta nothing until around 5PM when I switched to a 5" Senko in black, fishing it weightless and letting it sink to the bottom. First cast I got a hit, but missed. Cast back off the far bank near the same place, worked it slow, let it sit for good 30 second, slowly brought the rod tip up and when I felt tension, set the hook.
Nice little fight later I pulled in the Smallmouth pictured. Just inhaled the Senko and it took me a while to get the hook out, but a nice way to salvage something.
