This small, 79-acre natural great pond is located immediately south of Route 140 in Wrentham. The pond has an average depth of 16 feet and a maximum depth of 36 feet. The water is clear and of excellent quality, with a transparency of 12 feet. The bottom consists of gravel and rock, overlain by sand and clay. There is very little aquatic vegetation. Although this is a natural great pond – and therefore open to use by anyone – the entire shoreline is privately owned, effectively deterring public access. Further, most of the shoreline is heavily developed, a fact that may even preclude the construction of a public boat ramp. Recreational use of this lake by swimmers and boaters is heavy during the warm months. Fish Populations: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, white perch, brown bullhead, pumpkinseed, bluegill and longear sunfish.
Finding parking and access remain difficult problems to overcome at this pond, but anglers who can find a way to the water will get into some good largemouth bass and chain pickerel fishing. Due to the heavy use this pond receives in the summer, fishing is likely to be most productive and enjoyable in spring or winter.
