Holiday Weekend Fishing
I pulled the trigger on a used fishing canoe (Mad River 14') which was a steal (probably was stolen for what I paid for it) so my son and I could get into waters that don't allow gas. Our first trip was to Fosters Pond, as we did some shore fishing here last year.
It turned out to be a fantastic day of fishing. It was all bass, all day, no pickerel at all. There's a ton of vegetation, but it seemed to help a lot near pads. While we didn't catch the "big one" - as we define anything over 5 lbs. big, we still got some decent fish large and small. I used my double-willow fire tiger spinner-bait, while I had to take muck & weeds off of it often, it was worth it.
There still appears to be some inconsiderate types as there was trash by the dam and crossed some beer cans along our travels. It wasn't crowded, only saw four or five other boats out fishing, so not bad at all.
*The worm in the picture was taken safely out of a bass we caught without harm. It appears the line snapped and somehow the hook did not grab when I pulled it out (nearly the entire worm was not visible).
Very fun spot indeed. I fished there months ago for the first time and barely got to experience the whole pond. Landed 6-7 bass in under 2 hours - one of them being 4.35lbs.
