Half Horse Half Donkey
I had today off from work and so did Jon and his neighbor Dan so we chatted yesterday and decided to plan the trip. I had about a doz and half of left over shiners from Saturday and JB picked up about 2 and !/2 dozen more...good thing because we ended up using them all.
We started around 7:45am at the cove about a quarter of a mile to the right of the launch. We had a power auger and hand chipper so by 8:15 we had all 15 traps set-up. During the process around 8:00am the 3rd trap I put in went off and when I got to the hole the line wasn't moving much. Once I gave it a bit of tension the line darted to the other side of the hole and a few seconds later I had a good one on. After about 25 feet of line in and I see a big mouth come at the hole and yell Monster! I got it through the hole and couldn't believe the first fish of the day was a slob. Before I released the fish another flag went up and then a minute later a 3rd flag went up. That's pretty much how the day went, easily 30 fish landed and probably another 15 flags that were either robbed or missed. We each caught a bunch of bass and pickerel. We also had 2 perch and 2 crappie make an appearence. They left around 2:30 after a ridiculas day of catching fish. I stayed on the ice for a couple more hours and caught 5 more fish including a 23 inch Mr. Picky! The day ended and I thought to myself what a day. Great company and a ton of fish!
It's a mule!
