How to tell when the fish hits on the fall of a lure????

How do I know when a fish whacks my lure on the drop???

Especially for lakers?????

I always wondered! How do you know when to close bail and set hook????

When's line jumps or hesitates I just think it's my line coming off my spool! But it could most certainly be a fish hitting

If the spoon got hit on the drop, it is most likely a salmon. You line will come out faster. You can try put your index finger on the line while the lure is dropping.
