Hornpout in the Lowell/Dracut/Tyngsborough Area

I have no boat so i need to find a good spot to catch good size hornpout. Everyone says they are tasty, Im normally a strictly catch & release guy but I figured if i can snag one big enough it might be worth a try. Any suggestions?

Lake Mascuppic in Tyngsboro will give up some big cats, but I usually only caught them at night.

Look no further. The Merrimack River has some big cats. Use to catch plenty of them fishing for carp on doughballs as a kid.
