Do you think MAFF has improved fishing tourism in Mass?

Definitely!

I think Shawn White is mostly responsible for that!

I know that I try to fish all of Shawn's favorite spots as often as possible Very Happy

Are you asking if people come to mass to fish cuz they saw me on MAFF? That's a no brainer

Posted Mon Sep 30, 2013 5:34 am

do you mean, do you think more people fish in MA b/c of MAFF?

That is another way of stating what I have said but yes.

No. You either fish or you don't. Maff might have someone who already fishes... fish more. But unless you are a fisherman, you are not looking for fishing websites. I mean sure maybe a few guys looking to get into fishing finds a site like this but those numbers are small IMO

No, I blame that on Basspro Shops.

Stratos,

I don't agree with your logic. I have read several posts on this forum from people who where inspired to start fishing based on what they have read here.

However, if I where to confine the question to your logic, the answer would probably be yes, because other fisherman in other states, reading our site would be motivated to visit Mass as a fishing destination based on the content we post here.

Majority of people go on fishing tourism trips to catch a trophy fish, and for the majority of species fished in MA there are better options if your going trophy fishing (there are one or two exceptions like stripers)

Outside of the surrounding states I don't think there are too many folks making MA a stop on their bucket list for fishing.

I can't imagine why someone would travel to Mass to fish, unless to try and catch a bluefin.

Nation wide the sale of fishing licenses is up something like 11%, so the sport is growing.

Mass does not have the caliber of fishing to make it a "fishing destination" some saltwater species maybe say for tuna or stripers but other than that no way unless its someone from like a surrounding state.

It would be a whole lot easier to believe the ney sayers if they did not have profile picture of themselves holding up Largemouth bass that look to be over five pounds.

Just sayin Wink

I wouldn't call a 5lbs bass a trophy bass. No doubt it is a good fish but for the states that have a serious bass population 5lbs never comes close to a trophy fish. People go to Florida, Texas and California to go trophy LMB fishing.
