I've been trying to fish all over the place this year but looking for a good local spot for shore fishing in Qui/Wey/Braintree area. Can anyone point me in a direction (even by message) if you don't mind sharing your spot? I just need a place where I can go for when I have an hour or so of down time when I feel like getting a line in the water. I usually go to a place we call icehouse. It has some big bass and carp in there but it's beyond filthy and only has 1 or 2 spots you can fish from shore (not that you'd want to put a boat in there.) Pond Meadows used to be good but hasn't been fishable for a bit unless things have changed. I'm sure I'm just overlooking places. Thanks in advance!!!

Well in Braintree there's Sunset Lake, in Quincy there literally isn't a single body of fresh water other than Eaton's Pond, which is behind a housing development near Quincy Point. In Weymouth there's the ole' Whitman's Pond, and Weymouth Great Pond near Holbrook (Weymouth Great Pond tends to harbor trouble makers and punk kids looking for trouble though). There really aren't many choices up in the Metro area of Quincy/Braintree/Weymouth that's for sure. Kind of a shame, but most of the better ponds are deeper into the South Shore. Hope this helps man, might just have to make the trip to Pembroke/Hanover/Hanson/Plymouth etc.

Thanks man! Eatons is the place we call icehouse (it's gross tho.) I'm finding Whitman's a little too weedy from the shore unless there's a place to cast other than the main road. Thanks for the other spots! Might check them out. Been going down to Pembroke a lot and hitting 1 of my spots but I def want to check more of them out. Got a lot of places near my work so I should be ok. Just looking for that place when the wifey has the kids out for an hour or so and I'm like "I should be fishing right now" but don't want to drive more than 10-15 min lol!

And as gross as Eatons is, you do pull out decent size ones, plus some big carp! Biggest carp I ever caught was there. Was awhile ago and I knew nothing about fishing but my buddy's dad said it was close to 30 lbs..... Here's about a 3 lb LMB I took out of there a couple weeks ago...

My buddy used to live in Quincy and he would make the drive to Canton and go to Ponkapog

I've been there a few times but always forget about it for some reason. It really isn't that far either as long as you're not going during rush hour. Thanks for the reminder!

Wow that's a serious fish for such a small pond, congrats on that man.

hey im from Braintree and do almost all my fishing in this area. I live down the street from eatons but haven't been there once. ive only caught a few bass at pond meadow so I wouldn't suggest it. if I go in btree itll either be to sunset but I think you have to be a resident to park there now or the golf course right down the street is pretty good bunchve small ponds with huge bass. this year tho ive been in the Holbrook/avon area and doing pretty good
