I have a flasher built in to my dashboard. I also have my lowrance mounted above it. At times when I'm just out on the water I turn them both on. Believe it or not, the flasher is easy to read with the depth. It has adjustments for signal strength, and speed. Also you can tell the bottom hardness by the thickness of the band that shows up. Finding weeds takes a little getting used to, but it can be done, It's the finding fish that is the tough part, sometimes you can see them rising, but just like a lcd graph, sometime it gets cluttered. One good thing is it adjusts pretty fast at high speed, most small depth finders do not. If you can get a flasher for a reasonable price, I would try it. Also my Lowrance has a built in flasher under the sonar option, check out your graph, it may have that capability.
