Hi all,
Looking for some new fishing spots and came across Beaver pond and Franklin Reservoir. I cant find to much info about them here. Has anyone fished there? Do they have public boat access, is it worth the trip? Looking to get a kayak and canoe in there.
appreciate any info!
Thx
I thought fishing is allowed but no boating on Mass. Reservoirs with the exception of a few like the Q n Chu. I fish Manchester Res. and that's drinking water correct. Places like this hold some nice fish if you can find them from shore.

Well I'm not sure if its legal but we have a res in blackstone that feed woonsocket, RI and I fished there on a kayak and the houses on this lake had motor boat and canoes, I was told no dock allowed.
the story I heard is the guy who owned the land around the reservoir donated it with the stipulation of no fishing. he was also a bait shop owner and was peeved at the mess people left there.
Beaver pond you are allowed to fish. Some nice bass and pics in there. There is a rough boat launch perfect for a canoe or kayak. Haven't fished it in forever though so not sure if anything has changed used to swim there as a kid.Small pond easy to get around in a canoe. If you are going to take a trip that far maybe better off hitting the Beaver pond in Bellingham off Hartford Ave behind Varney Bros some real pigs in there if you don't mind fishing the slop.Have had some pretty decent days worming there.Used to live in Bellingham one of my favorite places to fish back in the day caught my biggest bass before last yr there when I was in my twenties.
I live close to both those places and only fish each a couple of times a year, there are better places to travel to. beaver pond in bellingham looks like one of those real bassy places but didn't live up to it. I got some 2-3 pounders in there but no numbers.
I haven't fished it in years. So maybe not what it used to be.When I was a kid it was within biking distance so it was our go to spot and we always did well remember some huge picks and giant crappie taken from there.Probably fished more heavily now seeing as Bellingham is more populated than it used to be.
my fishing style enables me to catch a lot of small fish. I use that statistic to judge the health of the pond. I caught very few small fish in beaver pond bellingham. but thanks for that location Badlarry.
That kind of surprises me because when I was a kid that place was perch heavan I remember hitting schools of them and being able to catch one on every cast at one spot but I guess things change. My mother still lives in Bellingham so recently paid a trip to another old haunt box pond. Was great when I was a kid but algae blooms remain a problem not like I remembered it.No fish and very few places I could punch through the weeds.Charles river flows through it and used to be quite a hot spot.
