OK, after fishing more than I have in a long time, I am starting to get a bad case of "bass thumb". Not to sound like a girl (and no offense to the girls on the site), but do any of you wear a type of lightweight glove for this specific reason? No kidding, this s*** hurts and on both hands! Neosporin is only a temporary help. Just wondering and go easy on me.

I wish I got to fish so often that I'd know what to do! Seriously tho, I was checking out fly fishing gear in the Bass Pro Catalog and saw sun shade gloves. They might help.

I alternate between lightweight neoprene gloves that you can find in the hunting section of department stores, and weight lifting gloves whenever that area begins to feel sensitive. But you can also add some tennis grip to your handle to dampen it. Smile

i suck it up and put hydrogen peroxide on it.

While fishing, the adreneline helps the pain go away, but when not fishing, that's when it bugs me the most. Easiest solution I guess......just keep fishing! Cool

i usually get torn up thumbs right on the thumb. i wear the Glacier Glove Dr. Shade Fingerless Sun Glove for sun protection but that would probably prevent what you got in that picture too.

I have it on the thumb too. Didn't post that pic because it looks too much like a man part, LOL! The pic I posted is actually an older one.

Man that's ugly looking. I would definitely keep the antibiotic on that and avoid contact with water and fish to avoid infection. Your best bet may be to get a box of latex exam gloves from Costco. I have the Glacier Shade gloves also, available in the fly fishing section at Bass Pro. Although truthfully, they really aren't designed for heavy wear and with cut away finger tips they won't really protect your thumb, but they may help prevent that rash on your palm.

You sure that's bass thumb and not another type of thumb
