Kman posted that link about lightning and tonight while I was thinking about wrapping things up a big flash made my decision for me. No thunder. No dark clouds. Just a flash. I caught it on video too.

That's what I did yesterday. My original plan was to go to a lake that's electric only. With possible lightning I wanted to have the gas motor so I could get out quick

Yup get on the gas and screw

are you safe if you hide under a bridge? i had to do that a few weeks ago. wasn't sure if that even keeps you safe since you're still on the water?

Lightning can , will and does travel through closed windows and strikes people so I would assume that being under a bridge may help you out a little bit but isn't a sure thing haha

You gentlemen should know...that lightening travels at or just under the speed of light. Which is why you will see the flash before you hear the boom.

If you are in the wrong place at the wrong time....your gas motor is simply not fast enough to out run the lighting strike. IMO even trying to "out run" the strike might draw the lighting strike to you.

So be careful out there.
