Since Tiger Trout are sterile, and Mass only stocks 3,000 of them, is catching one (while trout fishing) just pure luck, or is there anything that you can do to kind of hedge your bets?
i know they like deeper water and act like browns. i've only caught one in my life and that was last year. it was almost 3 pounds and it fought remarkably well. i was fishing for white perch using a 1/8 ounce jig tipped with a plastic minnow. i guess i was lucky to catch it so close to shore but ive heard stories of them growing up to 10lbs. deffinatly a fish worth searching for.
I landed quite a few last year out of Hopkington res while fishing for rainbows all on power bait. I would liek to think I was targeting them, but reality for me was just pure luck. They do put up a pretty good fight though.
