Shad are in the Merrimack!

Went down to the merrimack river in lawrence this morning with my uncle. Hooked up with 5 nice shad broke a few more off. Even hook a couple small salmon. He was killing them on a fly rod with one of my 1/32 ounce lead free micro darts with some flash tied on. I will create a trip a another day for more details and a video i took. But for now here are a couple pics!

FYI...not to toot my own horn.. LOL... but the other five guys down there throwing willow leafs caught jack.

I'm sure that wont be the case once they are in the river in full force but for now it was pretty cool seeing my darts working great and everyone else just staring at us like what the hell is going on. Probably should have passed out business cards.

Cool! I would love to go shadding on the fly rod at some point. Looks like a lot of fun.

FYI, I was one of the guy that didn't catch jack when you were there! lol It was nice to see someone land a shad. That spot where you were fishing is a prime spot. Always somebody catching fish every time at that spot.

Just curious, what weight set up were you using? I have a fly rod too but never thought about fly fishing for shad.

Pulled the hook on a monster shad in the ct river near Chicopee. Easy 5-6 pounder. First time really fishing for them and pissed I lost that one. I have caught a couple down in New Jersey on vacation. Wish the river were closer to home for me
