Anyone ever been? Im heading up there for July 4th weekend wanted to see if any one had an experience up there or knew of anyone in the Sebago area with experience? Im been searching around possibly doing a guide, but seems like most of it is for Lakers and such. Id like to fish as much as the lake as possible, but wont truly be possibly with the cartopper, especially if the weather is iffy.

I haven't been there since I was a kid but that place is HUGE. I have a friend that spends a lot of time at his grandparents place. I was asking him about smallies recently and he was like oh ya we kill it. I'm not sure about your boat on that lake though

Bobby, I would not hesitate to bring your cartopper. There are dozens of smaller BOW withing a 30 minute ride, some a LOT less of Sebago. The bass fishing is amazing. I have a book at home that has a list of lakes and ponds, their size and what species are in them and where the access points are. Let me look for it tonight and if I find it you are welcome to borrow it or photocopy some pages if you like.

Sebago is huge, crystal clear and can be TOUGH. The smaller connecting ponds like Long lake and Brandy pond are smaller and IMO fish better with a good mix of LM and SM

My thoughts exactly, both big and not sure if the boat can handle it. I am trying to find out where exactly the house is on the lake before I decide to bring it up. If it is running distance of multiple coves then Ill bring it otherwise I may be fishless for the week.

Thanks for the info and appreciate the offer on the book. We are going up with my girlfriends parents so I figured it would be easier to slip away off the dock instead of getting up at 6 and driving away haha. I got promised one day of fishing so I think I can make it work. Looking at the map of Sebago it is fisherman overload with the amount of lakes/ponds in the direct vicinity.

my brother has a house on Sebago and I fish there quite a bit. To be honest, the smaller surrounding ponds fish better and alot easier. Little Sebago is awesome, Highland Lake in Bridgeton is good too, Tricky Pond small but good. Cold Pond, Peabody Pond. All these are at the north end of the lake as thats where I hang. Long Lake supposed to be good, but I have alot of trouble catching much there! Depends where your located on the lake? If you are driving to a launch, the Songo River is very good for largemouth, it would take an entire day to fish with car topper. All laydown wood & good grass along the edges. Muddy river on the north end of the lake is good largemouth, shallow grass, protected. Any other questions feel free to PM me.

Up until last year, I have gone every summer for the last 11 years, to a family campground. I have mostly fished from the shore on a limited basis due to forced family fun time. Depending on where you are starting out from I guess, the cartopper would be fine. The main lake is huge and very choppy on most days. I've taken a canoe out to get my sons out on the water and fish a little, but as soon as we hit the main lake, it was just to choppy to continue so we'd turn around. There are plenty of coves and they are like glass, so like I said it depends on where you're starting out. Look on a good map and see how close you'll be to coves or if you can drive around, then it's no big deal either. The locals say the fishing is great, with lots of bass, landlocked salmon and all other regular freshwater species for the most part.

Take the topper to be safe. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it! Good luck and have fun. Sebago is a beautiful lake.

I rented a cabin on Sebago Lake Basin a few years ago. Fished it and didn't get a sniff from the boat. Fished the docks from shore and got a few LM. Fished from shore under the bridge where the lakes connect and found the smallies. You can't fish under the bridge from a boat though, the channel has to remain clear Exclamation

we go every year to Sebago for a week in the end of July. If you can get out to Frye Island by the rock ledges that has some giant largemouth out there also there is a spot near Long Beach Marina by the old boat house that is really good.

If anyone is intrested, I have a friend who owns a home on Frye Island that is up for sale, He is not on the water but has a dock that is.
